Kylestiens's travel blog entry: "We landed in Beijing the following day 7/11/2010 at around 11.30 am China time. We quickly collected our rucksacks and headed for the exit. We decided it would be cheaper and more of an experience for us to make our own way from the airport to the hotel. We took the shuttle and the underground, which is not an experience I'd like to encounter again! Everyone on the underground was packed in like sardines and we had to fight our way through the crowds getting on and off the underground ( with our rucksacks on!) we finally reached our stop- Tianamen Square East and so took to the streets of Beijing. We were deliberating on whether to get a taxi for the rest of the way when an old Chinese woman ,who was in what can only be described as a scrambler with a tin box on top, called us to use her taxi, Kyle did a bit of haggling and managed to get us a good deal! :) The hotel is comfortable and clean. After having some sleep and a shower we went to the local supermarket and bought 2 lots of noodles, a big bag of crisps, bread, water and chocolate marshmallow things all for £1.50! :) In the morning, we will head for the starting point to begin our trip from Beijing to Hong Kong!"
