Entry from: Mishima, Japan
Entry Title: "Mishima Matsuri"
Entry:
"Our second matsuri! This one is in nearby Mishima, just west of Fuji. There's tons of food lining the main street, and parade floats are pulled by people through the streets. There's more taiko drumming, and it all leads up to the shrine where there is a fireworks display. These, however, are not your average fireworks. Call them poor-man's fireworks if you like, but instead of being shot up in the air, men wearing little more than loin clothes or pants come out in fours holding giant fireworks that spray out from ground level, sparks fill up the night! See photos to understand better."
